On September 3rd, I will re-tell my IBD Story
Two years ago on September 3rd, I sat down and wrote out some of my ulcerative colitis story after having an awful night/morning. I blasted it all over social media and it felt AMAZING to get so much out and let the world know what my family and I had been going through all of these years. The messages I received were so filled with love, support and admiration. I could never have dreamed of a better response from family and friends after sharing so much of myself with the public.
As a tradition, on September 3rd of every year, I am going to re-post my story all over social media. I find those that do that with every single post they write annoying beyond belief (if people want to share your work, they will) but this piece of writing, this day, and this milestone in my life needs to be celebrated in my mind. It needs to be re-told so that others who may not have known me a year or two ago can read and maybe find at least one thing they can relate to so they know they are not alone.
I am very proud of myself for doing this. It was the start of a tremendous amount of good things in my life.
And I want to thank everyone, over and over again if it was appropriate, for all of the love, the support, the kind words, and for just generally accepting me and not caring about something I have felt made me less than everyone else for so many years.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Wednesday’s post, or re-post I should say, will be published around 730am EST. Hope you will check it out when you can!
